Holy Body Day – May 22nd

jump_for_joy1One of the main goals of the Authentic Body Project is to start living from the neck down, to re-connect with the joy of being in a physical body. It’s easy to understand how we get to the point of disconnection. Who doesn’t remember the sting of an unkind comment?

Holy Body Day on May 22nd is a day to honor, cherish, and adore your body. My friend and inspiratrix, Cynthia Morris, describes her declaration of Holy Body Day and offers some great ideas for celebrating your body on her Journey JuJu blog.

Whatever you choose to do, take some time and reflect on all the good things about being in a physical body. Here’s the start of my list:

  • Remembering the fits of giggles yesterday with friends, to feel that joy rippling through
  • After a workout, the slightly tired muscles feel delicious
  • Seeing the beauty of the snow-capped mountains against the Colorado blue skies still takes my breath away after 12 years of living here
  • Smelling the lilac-scented air makes me swoon
  • Noticing sensations on the skin: the touch of a loved one, the touch of silk clothing, the touch of the spray of water in the shower – ahhhhh!
  • Sounds: music, the laughter of friends, the tender I love you at the end of the phone call to Mom
  • Tastes: yum!

Isn’t glorious being in a body?
